Church event helps community members of all ages
JACKSON, Tenn. – A local church meets to give back to its community.
Blairs Chapel CME Church hosted a Community Impact Day for their church and community members.
âToday is our community impact day. Where we distribute backpacks full of school supplies, snacks, and we also distribute bags to the elderly and community members to have cleaning supplies, masks, snacks and other sundries, â Church member Christina Crawford said.
With last year being the first year of the event, members hope the years to come will be even bigger.
âIt’s a little bigger this year than last year. Because last year we didn’t have the clothes, but this year we got a little bigger, âCrawford said.
This is the second year that Blairs Chapel CME has held its Community Impact Day and they say it was created to give a helping hand to members during an unprecedented time.
âWell, we are doing it because we want to let the community know that we are always there for them, during this time of pandemic. And we kind of want to support people and just encourage them to come out, once it’s back to normal, âCrawford said.
Event organizers want members to know that the church is still able to provide community support when needed.
