City council to approve company for $ 7.4 million project – The Daily Eastern News
Charleston City Council will vote on engineering service contracts to work on the $ 7.4 million sewage treatment plant nutrient removal project.
The first contract would be with Donohue and Associates, Inc., who provided a proposal for a design for the project.
The second contract would be with UpChurch Group, Inc., which worked on the wastewater treatment plant in 2010 and provided a proposal to perform the work.
The council will also vote on an amendment to the city’s vehicle towing agreement between the Charleston Police Department and local towing agencies.
This agreement sets out guidelines for when the department has the authority to have a vehicle towed, as well as scheduling a rotating list of towing agencies that have signed up to participate in the city’s towing.
It also includes requirements for response times and agency fees.
The council will also vote on whether to provide tourism funds to the Lincoln Log Cabin Foundation.
The foundation requested $ 1,500 to cover expenses related to Harvest Frolic at the Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site on September 25 and 26 of this year.
The Lincoln Log Cabin Foundation has applied for funds to the Charleston Tourism Advisory Board. The council recommended that the city council provide the funds.
Council will vote on whether to authorize the acquisition of a permanent authorization from Christ First Church to use part of its property to construct a multi-use trail between Sister City Park and Nursery Road.
The addition of this trail is part of the effort to develop Sister City Park.
After the action points, time is set aside for members of the public to address the council. No action will be taken on matters not on the agenda, and the Council is under no obligation to take any further action or discuss the matter further.
The board asks those who choose to address the board to speak into the microphone, limit the presentation to three minutes, and avoid repetitive comments.
