Columbia Church gets a makeover | Republic Times
Previously, 600 Columbia Center Drive was home to Faith Columbia. Now the tall brown building facing Route 3 begins its debut as The Way Church.
While the building that is now The Way Church is no longer a campus of the larger Faith St. Louis Church campus in Oakville, Missouri, The Way Church is still affiliated with the Lutheran faith. As a press release indicates, he is part of the Synod of the Lutheran Church of Missouri.
The press release said The Way Church was born after “years of planning and preparation,” and given the church’s mission to “practice the way of Jesus together,” the name couldn’t be more apt. .
“Jesus is the Way and He calls us to a way of life,” said Senior Pastor Jon Palmer.
He explained that this way of life is not limited to the walls of the church.
“We want to see people practice what it means to be a follower of Jesus in their homes, workplaces and schools,” Palmer said.
Palmer said a core part of The Way’s mission is to serve surrounding communities. He mentioned that on service Sundays, the community will often find The Way members cleaning up area parks.
On May 1 at 9 a.m., the church will have a special service celebrating its establishment. The Reverend Waldemar Vinovskis, president of the SELC District of the Lutheran Church, will lead the service.
Games and activities will follow the service, with special activities planned for children.
Thematic services are offered at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. every Sunday morning, in person and via Facebook. Children ages 3-5 can attend Way Kids during the 9 a.m. service, and child care is available for children ages 6 months to 3 years old during the two-hour service.
