Debra “Debbie” Jean Norman – Daily Ardmoreite
Memorial services will be held at the Harvey-Douglas Centennial on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 4:00 p.m., with Larry Vaughan as officiating.
Debra “Debbie” Jean Norman, 70, went to join Jesus on October 7, 2022. Debbie was born to Herschel and Corrine Vaughan in Altus, Oklahoma on July 3, 1952. Debbie grew up on a farm in Hollis, OK. She graduated in 1970 from Hollis High School where she was actively involved and elected president of 4H. Debbie attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University and later earned her dental hygienist degree from Baylor College of Dentistry in Texas. Debbie was a devoted follower of Christ. After graduating in 1974, she moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma and became an active member of the Northwest Assembly of God Church and then Crystal Rock Cathedral. She met many lifelong family friends during her stay.
On June 3, 1978, she married Johnny Norman, they have been married for 44 years. During these years, Debbie and Johnny were blessed with their three children Amy, Deanna and Kevin. Debbie has worked for many dentists in and around Ardmore. After 30 years as a dental hygienist, she retired in 2006.
Debbie has always been very involved in her church and her children. She was a church missionary leader, involved in PTA, and leader of Camp Fire. His family later became members of the First Baptist Church of Ardmore.
She was an active member until her health began to decline. Debbie enjoyed her Sunday school class and their special Bunco group. Debbie was also a member of UCT. She will always be remembered for helping and caring for those around her. She particularly enjoyed beach trips, sewing, crafts, cooking, decorating and parties. In retirement, Debbie enjoyed spending time with family and dear friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister and friend who will be greatly missed. She will be remembered for her strong faith and servant heart. Debbie was predeceased by her parents Herschel and Corrine; brother Billy; a sister Cleta and a niece, Stephanie.
She is survived by her children: Amy King and her husband Jacob King, Deanna Norman and James Schooler and Kevin Norman and his wife, Rianne Norman; his brother, Larry Vaughan married Carroll; one sister, Donna Campbell and her husband Tom Campbell; his grandsons, Tristan and Luke Schooler, Micah King and his honorary granddaughters Kendall and Piper Sloan and their parents Danial Sloan and his wife Andrea; as well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who are like family.
