Greek company offers € 500 bonus to vaccinated employees
A company in Larissa offers a bonus of 500 euros to vaccinated employees.
“We also want to bring our little stone to the wall of immunity,” said Vice-President of Cosmos Aluminum, Giannis Cantonias, of the decision to grant a bonus of 500 euros to vaccinated employees.
Of the approximately 180 workers, 30 have been vaccinated so far and another 90 have made an appointment or have already taken the first dose.
There are several workers – around 40-45% – who cannot be vaccinated for health reasons or because they are already sick.
“It was a gratifying move for the employees of the company, who responsibly followed the instructions of the doctors and the committee of specialists, without any reaction,” he said.
“The money has started and will be returned from June, with the payroll, to those who have completed the second tranche,” added the vice-president.
Cantonias clarified that even those who cannot be vaccinated for health reasons or who have already fallen ill will receive the bonus.
âThis is a measure that clearly supports those who are vaccinated and not at all threatening for those who are not vaccinated. We don’t threaten, we don’t blackmail. “It’s an indirect incentive to reward the consistent,” he said.
He clarified that because the measure was announced last Friday, “so far we have no employees who have expressed their opposition to the vaccine,” although, as he said, “it is is something completely normal, and they should not feel any threat to their work. ” or fear.
When asked if he was influenced by the Prime Minister’s announcements concerning the Freedom Pass with 150 euros for young people who will be vaccinated, the vice-president of Cosmos Aluminum stressed that “our thinking has been there for a month” .
“We were discussing with the legal department and our staff how to proceed without giving a bad image,” Cantonias said.
Regarding the amount of the bonus, he said that it had been decided after examining many parameters and in relation to the finances of the company.
“Our objective was not to advertise, we are a purely exporting company and therefore we will not have any direct profit,” he said, specifying that there will be only one ” local promotion “, while informing the employees of the company.
He added that the purpose of the bonus is for other entrepreneurs to be positively influenced by this initiative, in order to contribute to the national effort. I would like other companies to emulate us, âhe noted.
“There is a positive image in the local community around this initiative”, he added, while qualifying the reactions heard as being absurd of an attempt to take over the employees.
