Kaleidoscope of Faith is happening this weekend

The new owner of the former Salvation Army building at 2n/a and Ash started a new Food Ministry on Wednesday. From 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Alonzo Ramirez invites the community to stop by for a free homemade meal. It maintains an open invitation to everyone.

Registration is now open for Wayland Baptist University’s 2022 Super Summer in Plainview. This year’s featured speaker is Shannon Hopkins and worship leader is Dusty Joplin. The camp is scheduled for July 11-15. Those interested in additional information can find it at www.supersummer.com.

Christ the King Cathedral in Lubbock will host a special Mass on June 25 to celebrate the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the diocesan anniversary celebration. Bishop Coever will preside over the mass. Parish banners will be displayed at the Cathedral Gathering Area. Each parish is encouraged to bring its own banner. The event will immediately switch to the Kaleidoscope of Faith conference at the Catholic Renewal Center.

The Kaleidoscope of Faith is scheduled for June 25, 2022. Speakers begin at 1:15 p.m., gather at the Catholic Renewal Center in Lubbock – after the patronal feast day mass at Christ the King Cathedral. Food trucks will be available for lunch starting at noon. The afternoon will feature speaker and musician Joe Melendrez and speakers Father Nahum Lopez, pastor of St. Theresa Church in Lubbock and Father Heriberto Mercado, pastor of Immaculate Conception Church in Muleshoe and the church Saint Mary Magdalene on Earth. The Catholic Renewal Center will host the Culture of Ministry Seminar for Young Adults on August 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be aimed at those beginning a ministry to young adults and current leaders in ministry to young adults. Seth Ward Baptist Church, 601 E. 24e St., offers a Men’s Prayer Breakfast every second Saturday of the month at 8 a.m.

A Celebrate Recovery class is hosted by Johnny Beavers at Seth Ward Baptist Church, 601 E. 24e St., every Friday at 6:30 p.m.

The Lighthouse Apostolic Church, 1504 Houston in Plainview, invites the public to pray at the church from 6-7 p.m. each Friday. You do not need to be a church member to attend and pray. Our Lady of Guadalupe offers a soup kitchen through the cafeteria once a month. A soup kitchen coordinator said it was run by the church’s CCD program. It helps involved children earn community service credits. Delivery is available. The soup kitchen is usually offered on the third Saturday of the month. Meals are served from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 211 W. Seventh Street.

The Plainview Dance Club holds dances at the Elks Lodge every first, second and fourth Thursday from 6:30-9:00 p.m. The Elks Lodge is located at 908 N. I-27. Meetings include weekly musical entertainment each evening. There are no snacks. The event is open to everyone. Membership fees are $5 for members, $7 for non-members, or $10 for a one-year membership.
