Creation of a medical expense fund for a resident of Stephenville
A go-fund-me page has been opened for Theresa Hobbs, 26, a resident of Stephenville, who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma, often considered the deadliest of cancers.
Her doctors said she was suffering from a very aggressive stage 4 brain tumor and that the funds would help cover her medical bills as she did not have insurance.
Theresa and her husband, Jake Hobbs, have been together since 2009 and have lived in Stephenville most of their lives.

CTFAC Welcomes Western Art Artist from Texas
The Cross Timber Fine Arts Council welcomes works by local Texan artist Jo Ann Schulze to its River North Gallery, 204 River N. Blvd., Stephenville. The exhibition runs until September 28.
As a special tribute to the community’s rodeo heritage, Schulze has also included many paintings of his Western art to show alongside rodeo art and CTFA memorabilia during rodeo week.
A special artist reception for Schulze is scheduled for Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the River North Gallery. Refreshments will be provided. The exhibition and reception are open and free to the public.
Cowboy Capital Fun Run scheduled for Saturday
The Miss Cowboy Capital Pro Rodeo Royalty and Queen Committee is hosting the 5th Annual Cowboy Capital 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Run at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Stephenville City Park.
This racing event will be produced by the Raceday Event Services crew.
Runners will arrive at the finish line in time to enjoy the rodeo parade through downtown Stephenville.
Registration for the 5K is $ 35 and for the 1M is $ 25. To register in advance online, visit runsignup.com/Race/TX/Stephenville/CowboyCapital5K. Registrations without an appointment on the day of the race will also be accepted.

Rodeo parade scheduled for Saturday
A rodeo parade is scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. in downtown Stephenville.
The parade will feature watch horses, chariots, cowboys and cowgirls, rodeo queens, bands and more.
The parade begins at Stephenville City Park, heads north on Graham, passes the Washington Courthouse, and returns to the park.
Saturday Special Needs Rodeo Game
The White Horse Christian Academy in association with the Stephenville PRCA Rodeo and the Tarleton TREAT Program will present a Special Needs Rodeo from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Lone Star Arena
Events will include horseback riding, face painting, corn hole, stick horse racing, and more. The rodeo is open to anyone with special needs, free of charge.

Shooting center offering a license to conduct courses
The Tac Pro Shooting Center, 35100 N. St Hwy 108, Mingus, is holding a Texas Transportation License class from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The cost of the course is $ 75 and a course request form must be completed and returned prior to the date of the event.

Church hosting the Night of 100 Casseroles
Graham Street Church of Christ, 312 N. Graham St., will host its next Night of 100 Pans from 5 p.m. until they run out on Thursday, September 30.
Graham Street Church of Christ will be donating the free cookware at the rate of one per vehicle.
This is a drive-thru service that takes place on the last Thursday of each month at the Graham Street Church Family Center parking lot.

The Stephenville Police Department will be holding a Carter BloodCare blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, October 1 at Cowboy Plaza in downtown Stephenville.
Carter BloodCare has partnered with McDonald’s and Dr Pepper to thank those who donate blood.
The COVID-19 test is now available to all donors. Social distancing instructions will be respected.

Chamberlin Elementary PTO hosting the Fall Carnival
Join the Stephenville Independent School District and Chamberlin Elementary School for the annual Chamberlin PTO Fall Carnival from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 1 at Stephenville City Park.
There will be games for kids of all ages, raffles, Dad’s Grill, cotton candy, bounce houses, classroom silent auctions, hay rides, and more.
Raffle tickets are on sale now for $ 5 each and enter the ticket holder for a chance to win prizes including a $ 3,000 Walmart gift card.
Carnival bracelets are now on presale for $ 25 and will be $ 30 when purchased at the carnival. The bracelets allow unlimited play on certain games and a limited number of foods. Individual tickets will also be sold at the carnival.

Clark Gardens hosts a date night
Clark Gardens, 567 Maddux Road, Weatherford, is having a date night from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday October 1.

The 49th Annual Stephenville Optimist Club Dinner Auction will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 2 at the Melody Mountain Ranch in Stephenville.

Farmer’s market scheduled for October 2
The Stephenville Farmers’ Market is held the first Saturday of each month, May through November, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Downtown Plaza. The next market is scheduled for Saturday October 2.
Shop for local plants, fruits, vegetables and homemade items.

Morning Star Ranch Garage Sale Benefit Package
A garage sale for Morning Star Ranch is scheduled for October 7-8 at the Riata Storage Unit near 281-67 at 137 Private Road 1111. The sale is scheduled from 8 am to 1 pm each day.
Morning Star Ranch is a denominational equestrian center for children.
