Obituaries of Glen Dawson (1940 – 2022) – Ponchatoula, LA

Glen, 81, went to his paradise home on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022. He was originally from Baton Rouge, LA. where he graduated from Istrouma High School. Glen proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and served his community as a reserve officer with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office and as a volunteer with CASA. Whenever possible, he liked to go hunting and fishing. Glen was a founding member of the TABA and SBA fishing associations. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hammond. His family and friends always came first. Glen was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend who is already dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Glen is survived by his daughter, Jill Barry (Mike); sons, Rodney Dawson (Janet) and Lt. Col. Keith Dawson (Tammy); grandchildren, Kelee Cruz (Patrick), Daniel, Megan, Landry, Anabelle, specialist Andrew Dawson, and Alan and Matthew Barry; great-grandchild, Emerson Lee Cruz; sister, Carol Martone (Frank); brother, Curtis Dawson (Carol); numerous nieces and nephews; with his precious and beloved friend, Anne Wilborne.
Glen was predeceased by his beloved wife of 46 years, Mary Lynn Nettles Dawson; son, Brad Dawson; parents, Jack and Beatrice Dawson; and his brother, Neil Dawson.
Relatives and family friends are invited to a visitation at the Chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 12012 Hwy 190 West, Hammond on Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church of Hammond, 411 West Charles St on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m.
