Congregational and Baptist churches present concerts on Tuesdays

The First Congregational Church and Waterbury Baptist Ministries present “Terrific Tuesdays” at the FCC Church at 222 West Main St. in Waterbury. The concerts take place at 6 p.m. and are free.

Tuesday of next week, Rusty Barn will perform. The Kerry Boys will perform on July 12, Mattatuck Fife and Drum on July 19 and Back and Forth on July 26.

Hot dogs, fries and beverage will be served.

The Parish of the Immaculate Conception organizes a summer picnic

WATERBURY – The Parish Basilica of the Immaculate Conception will have its summer picnic on July 30 from 4 p.m. to dusk at the Action Wildlife Foundation, 337 Torrington Road, Goshen.

The event will include an outdoor vigil mass, music, food and entertainment. Sign-up sheets will be available at the Basilica, 74 W. Main St., beginning Sunday.

The parish of the Holy Disciples organizes a “night of celebration”

WATERTOWN – Holy Disciples Parish will host a “Party Night” on July 22 from 7-9 p.m. on the back ground of St. Mary Magdalen School, 140 Buckingham Street, Oakville, rain or shine sale.

Frankies Hot Dogs will host the event which will feature a menu that will also include burgers, cheeseburgers, fries, mixed greens, soda, water, coffee and desserts. There will also be games and a 50/50 raffle.

The cost is $15 per person. One must reserve; forms are available at the exits of St. Mary Magdalen Church, 16 Buckingham Street, and St. John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main Street, and should be returned to the St. Mary Magdalen Parish Office, 145 Buckingham Street, across from the school, before July 13.

Mass will be celebrated at the nearby church at 6 p.m. before the event.

A formal merger of the two parishes takes effect today under the new name Parish of the Holy Disciples.

Annual Feast at Our Lady of Mount Carmel

WATERBURY – Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church will celebrate its annual feast July 14-17 at 785 Highland Ave.

The days and times will be Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with Excite DJ on duty from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., with Francesco Castiglioni from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., with Pane e Cioccolato from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday 11 a.m. mass followed by party hours from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., with Italian dancers from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Vittoria DiCarlo from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Party committee members collect donations and sell raffle tickets after all weekend masses.
