RONALD-CARL MONTGOMERY, 85, a lifelong resident of Lapeer, died Thursday, August 4, 2022.
Ronald was born July 3, 1937 in Port Huron to Carl and Mildred (Frazer) Montgomery. He graduated from Lapeer High School, Class of 1955. He married the love of his life, Nancy Jo Daly, on July 14, 1956, at Elba United Methodist Church. Ron went to work for General Motors at 17 – starting as a line worker. Throughout his 30-year career with Buick, he held several positions including (to name a few): assembly, metal brazier and management – eventually Ron retired as an engineer. 7th level processing principal. He retired in 1984. Upon his “retirement”, Ron and Nancy Jo owned and operated Montgomery Associates (representatives of Amway) for just over 20 years. Ron’s passions included: family, travel, fixing (everything) and working. Above all, Ron enjoyed the time spent with his family and often those times were enjoyed while traveling the world in a special place.
Ron is survived by his daughters, Cindi (Allen) Weingartz of Lapeer and Connie (Darryl) Svoboda of Lapeer; four grandchildren, Tasha (Rudy) Garcia, Kyle (Sarah) Weingartz, Tygar (Levi) Hirt and Devyn (Kelly) Svoboda; eight great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Emmaline, Lyndsey, Aurora, Paityn, Landon, Saylor and Aubrey; one great-great-grandchild, Lilly; brother, Rod Montgomery of Wyoming. Ron is also survived by his best friend, Harry (Wanda) Turner de Lapeer as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Nancy Jo Montgomery; daughters, Lori Ann and Sherri Ellen; sisters, Marilyn Sekley and Marjory O’Neill; brother, Richard “Dick” Montgomery; mother, Mildred Sturgis; father, Carl Montgomery and stepfather, Tom Sturgis.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Ron’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022 at Muir Brothers. Pastor Jeanne Wisenbaugh will officiate. Interment will follow at Stiles Cemetery, Lapeer. Ron’s family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Monday before the service.
