San Bernardino uses recruiting company to help search for new police chief – San Bernardino Sun
A Berkeley-based recruiting firm will help San Bernardino find a new police chief.
In partnership with city officials, Koff & Associates, the company with which City Manager Rob Field recently contracted to conduct the national research, is seeking community input during an online video forum scheduled from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21.
Those unable to attend can dial 720-707-2699 with access code 751450.
“We want to make sure that the people of the city have the opportunity to influence what they are looking to see in the next police chief,” Field said by telephone on Wednesday, September 8.
Acting Police Chief Eric McBride retired last week after 30 years with the city. Deputy Chief David Green fills the role of Acting McBride.
Field, to whom the top cop reports, expects a “robust” response to the opening.
There is currently no deadline to hire McBride’s successor, said Field, who will be hiring.
Until then, Koff & Associates will advertise the position and conduct other forms of outreach. The company will put together letters of interest and resumes, shortlist applicants and provide city officials with a list of recommended finalists, Field said.
