Seaside Scenes: The Island’s Oktoberfest Returns To Galveston | Way of life

Galveston’s first fall festival, the Island beer festival, returned to historic downtown Galveston on October 22-23. After being canceled last year due to the pandemic, this year’s festival – the 39th – was bigger and better than ever.

Island Oktoberfest opened with Galveston City Councilor Guillaume Schuster doing the honor of hitting the keg at 5 p.m. sharp on October 22. This year’s Sunday service began at 10 a.m. in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church shrine and included German polka music provided by The TubaMeisters. An hour of camaraderie followed the service.
