Sherman C. Johnson Sr., 77, of Lewistown went to join his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born May 20, 1944 in Lewistown, he was the son of the late George H. and the late Edna I. (Price) Johnson.
Sherman is survived by his beloved wife, Marlene (Longwell) Johnson, whom he married on August 5, 1972; children, Sherman C. Johnson Jr. and fiancé Melissa Shawver, of McVeytown; grandchildren, Trey D. Johnson of Lewistown and Landon M. Johnson of McVeytown; and her siblings, Darlene Knepp and her husband Edward, of Lewistown and Sue Murri and her husband Jim, of California.
He was an active member of the Lewistown Assembly of God, serving as a deacon.
Sherman was employed at Standard Steel as a crane operator, retiring after 20 years of service. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing at the Indian Run Golf Course of which he was a member, weightlifting, crafts, painting, and fishing. He will be remembered for his infectious smile and his ability to always be the life of the party. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.
Details of a Life Service Celebration to be held on May 21, 2022 will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to King-Barr Funeral Home LLC, 120 Logan St., Lewistown.
