The importance of a local church community – WKRG News 5
THOMASVILLE, Ala. (WKRG) – This is Faith Time, our weekly conversation on matters of faith. During the pandemic, many people may have been disconnected from their local church or place of worship. 3 Circle Church Thomasville Campus Pastor Jordan Matheson joins us to talk about the importance of a local church.
Guest: Ultimately where we try to turn for our whole base is scripture, and when you look in scripture in Hebrews chapter 10, it’s all about discussing the importance of local church and surpass themselves in love. and all those things. There’s a place there in Hebrews 10 where it says don’t neglect our meeting together who meet, we can encourage and push each other and so what we know to be is ultimately to be. encourage and urge each other towards the affection of Jesus. So as believers we wake up every day wondering how we can be more like Jesus today and the local church community is a great place to do that. It’s a great place to stir each other up. On and to encourage each other to become more and more like Jesus every day.
So, does virtual worship make a proper church community, or are there flaws in it?
Guest: So I’m sure you have people who years ago would have responded to this in a way that may have changed a bit today. With the COVID-19 pandemic, I would say virtual church is a very suitable substitute for people who may not be sure they are attending in person right now. I know people like that. And I think there is nothing wrong with that. I know these people attend faithfully online and always engage with their church community. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with monitoring churches that may be out of state additionally, but it’s still necessary for you to find that local church and that local body.
Anchor: What is created with the local church community?
Guest: This creates arguably one of the best support systems you can have and so does our lead pastor, Pastor Chris Bell. He used the line years ago in a sermon when he was talking about the local church, where he says this. Um, the local church creates something where the burdens are divided and the joy is multiplied, and so just what that means is when you’re going through tough times and we’re all gonna get through them – Even as a pastor , we don’t have enough time on this interview today for me to discuss the hard things I may have faced, but every time I went through hard times, I can’t tell you the outpouring of love and support and the people who kind of wrapped their arms around me just to say they’re here for me, praying for me. They love me. They carry this burden with me, and it also creates this multiplication of joy.
Recently my wife and I welcomed our first child into the world, so we are getting used to parenthood. I felt like our church community was even more excited than we were.
Welcome to welcome this boy into the world, and so there is this multiplication, this joy where we were excited.
But the man that was our local church was just as excited and so one of the most important things it creates is to create this wonderful support system.
Where burdens are divided and joy is multiplied. Yes, you definitely need to find a local church and get hooked up. We are blessed in our area of Mobile County, Clark County, Washington County.
They use between with amazing churches, and so it’s one of those things that you have to tune into.
