Kansas City, Kansas – Wanda Jean Dodd was born on February 20, 1949 in Kansas City, KS at Junior and Mable Fields. Wanda was educated in South Bend, Indiana, then went on to Kansas City, KS, where she earned her GED and Associates in Arts from Donnelly College. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and entered into His Glory on January 9, 2022. On December 11, 1971, she married Charles Dodd Sr. Together they had 6 children. Wanda and Charles celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December 2021.
Wanda was a loving and generous person, who loved children and was always supportive and encouraging. She was an adoptive mother of many children for years. She loved being with her family, especially on vacation. Wanda also loved going to the casino and playing her favorite game of spades, slapping that latest spade on the table and shouting “MOTHERS IN THE HOUSE”.
Wanda was predeceased by her parents Mable Thomas and Junior Fields; his siblings Carveen Johnson (Pee Wee), Joyce Pender, Vincent Thomas and Etta Thomas; great-granddaughter, Angel Dodd.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Charles Dodd Sr., her children, Florence Dodd, Charlotte Square (Selwyn), Dwayne Fields, Brenda Dodd, Charles Dodd Jr. (Helena) and Kevin Dodd, all of Kansas City, KS; daughters-in-law, Tricia Hicks and Carla Coleman, both of Kansas City, MO; 21 grandchildren; sisters Sandra Thomas and Glynda Thomas of KCK; Siblings, Henry Williams, Etta Mae Tilford, Aola Rawlins (Benny), John Wayne Polk (Terri), Elgin Hood (Deidra), Patricia Moore, Willetta McCloyn Jackson, all of Kansas City, KS, Benda McCloyn of KCMO . Creacie White and Joann White, of Detroit, MI, Keith Douglas of Atlanta, GA, Clyde Hunter, TX, Richard Jenkins (Cecilia), St. Paul, MN. Aunts Marion Sims of California, Marlene Grover, KCMO, Joann Crockett of South Bend, IN and Mary Ann Sanders of KCK. KCK’s Uncle Larry Henderson. Her best friend Lucille Tucker and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins ​​and great-grandchildren.
